Pregnancy Yoga

Pregnancy yoga

Learn gentle exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques to help you throughout your pregnancy and birth. Group classes are suitable for most women after their 12-week scan, unless you have any serious complications, in which case a one-to-one class may be more suitable. No prior experience of yoga is necessary.

The class begins at 6.45pm pm when we gather in circle for a cuppa, biscuit and chat. This gives me a chance to check in with how everyone is feeling, physically and emotionally, and allows me to tailor the class accordingly. It is also a chance for you to share some supportive words with your fellows mums-to-be.

Around 7.15pm we begin the class with a 10-15 minute yoga nidra (guided relaxation) to help you unwind and rest. We then move on to the more physical aspect of yoga, and practice asana (postures) for around 45 minutes. All the postures are respectful of the various stages of pregnancy, and help keep you strong and supple and prepare you for birth. We then close the class with around 10 minutes of pranayama (breath work) and either a seated guided visualisation/relaxation, or meditation.

The classes are held at La Vida yoga studio in Market Street, Ulverston, on Friday evenings, running in six week blocks. Each block costs £48, including a free pregnancy yoga guide to take home. You need to book online by following the link to the La Vida website using the button below.
